Lettie Bug is NINE!

On Monday, my Lettie turned nine years old! Wow. I cannot believe nine years have gone by so quickly. We are half way to 18! Oh! I cannot think about that! Am I old enough to have a nine year old? I guess so....cause she is!

My sweet Lettie is so grown up to be but nine years old. Lettie loves Jesus and accepted Him as her Savior almost 2 years ago (what an awesome blessing). What would I do without her help? She is so helpful with Ella and patient with her too, most of the time. She is a great student. Typical of a first child, she is neat and everything has to be just so...which is a delight most of the time. Give her a craft and she couldn't be happier. She is such a blessing (as are Owen and Ella)!

I know that in these next few years life will hold new challenges for our relationship...I pray God will keep her close to Him.

For her birthday she asked for clothes...see I told you -growing up! So we went shopping together on a couple of different outings. I so enjoyed our time together. Girl has style. She knows what she likes. She also had a few friends to go to the nail salon with her and get pedicures. It was a big hit! We had lots of fun! Jodie Turner made us an awesome cookie cake too. It was delicious!

Funny How God Can Remind Us to Be Thankful!

"Why are my undies on the door knob?" Lettie said to me as she came up the stairs a little bit ago. Well, the dryer finally, really this time, died this morning while I had a load of wet clothes waiting in the washer.... Yes, most of you know that it is no longer MURPHY'S LAW it is BARBER'S LAW.
So I have to go and get a new dryer today. I am drowning in dirty clothes because for the last day or two the dryer has worked and then decided to stop and then worked again and then stopped again! Now not only are there piles of dirty clothes everywhere but I also had to figure out some way to dry the wet clothes that were in my washer! Here is what I came up with----I'll do it the old fashion way! The only problem is that I don't have a clothes line! Anything that could be one, became one today. I hope no new neighbors drop by today!

Pappa's Birthday!

We went to Mississippi this weekend to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday. We had a lot of fun. We all surprised him at a Mexican restaurant for lunch on Saturday. Lots of friends and family were there. My brother and his wife even flew in from Houston to surprise him. I think we really pulled it off... at least he said he was surprised. I have included a few pictures of Pappa's party. You will notice all of the beautiful hats he was able to wear on his special day.
My sister-n-law also had a birthday yesterday so we celebrated with her on Sunday before she got on a plane and flew back to Houston. It was a busy but great weekend!

Where Does the Time Go?

Since we have moved, I have been unpacking a lot of things that have been boxed up for some time. I have caught myself reminiscing a lot. I've found wedding invitation lists, baby clothes and toys, and lots of pictures. I have felt the tears welling up in the corners of my eyes on several occasions. Where does the time go? How can I slow it all down? Do they really have to grow up?

This is where it all began!

I found this photo yesterday while I was unpacking some boxes....this is when it all began, summer of '96 University of Mobile. We look like babies don't we. Matt Hudson is also in this picture with us. He was in our weddding. Wow! Hard to believe it has been almost 15 years ago that we met. Time sure flies. I love him more everyday. He is so good to me. I am blessed!

No Other Gods

I started leading a single ladies Bible Study this week entitled "No Other Gods." I think that it is going to be great. I am really excited about getting to know all of the sweet ladies that are studying with me. We are going to have alot of fun.
I began studying the first week's material this morning. There was a definition that hit me square between the eyes. It is a definition of "false god." So often I try to equate the idea of a "false god" with statues and graven images. It truly is so much more. What a great reminder I got this morning!
Ken Sande defines it this way: ..something other than God that we set our heart on, that motivates us, that masters and rules us, or that we trust, fear, or serve.... According to this definition, I have some false gods to deal with in my life. What is the source of my motivation? What do I fear? Oh! I could go on and on.
2Kings 17:33- "They worshiped the Lord, but they also served their own gods."

I'm Back!!!

Ok... Sorry for the long time without blogging but...... WE MOVED!!!! Yeah!!!! After 13 months of transitions: moving, renting houses, selling houses, and buying houses we have finally settled into (and I say that loosely because we have lots to unpack) our new home. The Lord has been patient with me through all of it. Looking back over that time I know I bent His ear quite a bit with all of my "concerns" otherwise known as whining and complaining.

God has been so good to us. Jason and I often discuss how blessed we are to be serving the Lord here and living in this house that is perfect for our family. His grace is amazing! I also must say that we have some amazing friends. They helped us move (some of them every move), paint, fix, hang blinds, etc. Wow! What would we do without them? You know who you are--"THANK YOU SO MUCH!"
